12039 1/12 TYRRELL 003 (w/PHOTO-ETCHED PARTS)

Ken Tyrrell, the owner of the Tyrrell Racing, was deeply involved in motorsports, and made his move into F1 in 1968. Their initial MATRA chassis car had good results, but due to some differences, Tyrrell racing decided to go down another road and design their own original chassis. This car was given the title 001 in 1970, and was designed by up and coming race car designer Derek Gardner. Even though the car had some minor trouble it was still successful, and it led to 003 in 1971. The 003 sported a sports car nose instead of the 002's wing nose and with racing legend Jackie Stewart in the drivers seat, Tyrrell racing won 5 races and the championship.
