   DB01-R Wins the Fall Classic!

November 22nd saw the second carpet offroad trophy race of the 2009 racing season at Fastcats, and the first for Tamiya’s new DB01-R being piloted by TRF Driver Steve Bortolotti. With roughly 40 cars registered in the 4wd Open class, the competition was fierce all throughout the 3 rounds of qualifying and the A-Main. Steve had TQ heading into the final round of qualifying but had some unfortunate luck in the final round as he was caught up in another driver’s crash. Steve started second on the grid, and with 8 very fast cars in the A-Main who were all capable of winning, the main event was sure to be very exciting. When the tone sounded, Steve made quick work of TQ holder Leonard Shinzano by passing him on the second corner and never looked back. Steve led every lap of the race proving that the DB01-R is a very capable car right out of the box!

About the car:
Inheriting the qualities of the TRF501X, is this high performance 2 belt-driven 4WD DB01R assembly kit (84100) which comes loaded with Option Parts allowing it live up to its racing potential. From lessons learned from many races, the TRF (Tamiya Racing Factory) team has carefully included numerous Option Parts to complete the package. A special feature to the DB01R is the room that has been made to allow a motor heat sink to be equipped. The DB01R comes with a slipper clutch which is essential for off-road racing as well as reinforced drive belts which provide low drive resistance for optimum performance and front and rear universal joints help improve drive efficiency. Suspension features high performance aeration dampers which are mounted onto exclusive aluminium bushings, which work together with the upper arms to provide excellent traction to the track surface. Aluminium suspension mounts and suspension blocks feature high rigidity to greatly improve running performance.
  • The suspension features rigidity thanks to the aluminium bushings to attach aeration oil dampers as well as aluminium suspension mounts and suspension blocks.
  • The slipper clutch helps to provide excellent traction and improve running performance on rough, low traction surfaces and protects the drive train.
  • Flexible high traction lower arms are adopted for both front and rear ends while assembly type universal shafts also come standard.

Necessary hop-up options used:

-Aluminium TRF 501X (part# 51286) front and rear differentials
